(Posted by Jennifer Vieth <[email protected]> via moumn.org) There was a merlin perched on a post along the roadside in Denmark Township (Washington County portion of Hastings) this morning at 8:00 a.m.
A very mellow bird...so a good photo op if it hangs around. It was on Morgan Ave S., about 25 feet from the intersection with 122nd St.S. There has also been a Northern Shrike hunting the area over the past few weeks...although this morning it was probably a safe distance away from the merlin.
