Just wanted to remind you of our Eveleth February Phenology Class. We have
Bill Tefft, a retired Ely Community College Instructor, as our guest speaker. I
hope some of you can make it.

Eveleth Naturalist Classes: FUN with PHENOLOGY

February Session:
“Under the White: Small Mammals and Fungi After Mid-Winter”
Guest Speaker: Bill Tefft
Retired College Instructor and Ely Field Naturalist
Tuesday, February 17, 2015
3:30 – 5:00
Eveleth Public Library
(An adult must accompany attendees under the age of 13)

THERE WILL BE AN OUTDOOR PORTION FOR THIS PROGRAM. DRESS FOR THE
WEATHER!

Consider the shrews, moles, mice and voles that are active under the current
blanket of snow. Look at the forms of decomposing fungi that live on and
under the bark of birch trees. When you are in a world of winter white that
seems inanimate, there are opportunities to identify and record the living
organisms designed to survive winter and prosper when spring arrives.
