Shutting down the public bird feeders I maintain on Old Vermilion Trail for the
winter. I
filled them for the last time this morning (March 18th). Still worth birding
the trail / road as
the migration starts up in force ... nice wetlands and forest.

Over the course of the winter this was a neat area. Saw on the Trail this
winter the only
Great Grey Owl I know of being reported in the immediate Duluth area. In
addition, the
Kelly J's Northern Hawk Owl which I found on December 27th was only two miles
from the
start of the Trail, and I discovered on one of my trips out to fill the feeders.
