Over the past two weeks since my last message, migrants have slowly been
arriving to Carver County particularly the Rapids Lake unit of Minnesota Valley
NWR. Almost all my time birding has been spent at Rapids Lake. I intend to
spend much less time this year than the past in areas west of a line from
Rapids Lake to Carver Park Reserve. We'll see if that plan pans out if
shorebird conditions are ideal once again this summer. Today yielded my
highest species total day of the year with 49 species at the refuge. If you
are interested in today's species list and counts you can check either the MOU
database or ebird. Below are my arrival dates for birds at Rapids Lake MVNWR
