I put up a new wood duck house last fall. I recently peeked in and found a small number of feathers - one of which belongs to a cardinal - and several small owl pellets (I think). Is it too late to expect wood ducks to nest here this year? I live on Basset Creek and there are a number of wood ducks around.
If nesting is still a possibility, should I clean out the box entirely and start over or leave it alone? I did remove the pellets. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
