I was out running errands during heavy rain last evening and happened to be at the Kalmar reservoir west of Rochester (east of the landfill) on 70th Av NW just as rain storm let up. Among Coots and Blue-winged Teal there was a Common Gallinule swimming across the narrow part of the lake about 40 yards from the road. The sun was low and under the clouds so the light was perfect if I would have only brought my camera. It swam into the reeds on the south side and was visible as it foraged. The rains soon returned and I had to leave. Sorry I didn't get this posted until this morning. -jerry pruett stewartville mn
