Andy Nyhus is reporting a Red-necked Grebe at the gravel pit ponds
northeast of Luverne in Rock County. He found the bird around 10:00 this
morning out in the middle of the southernmost pond. Also, there is a
blue-phase Snow Goose in the north pond.

While Red-necked Grebes aren't necessarily rare birds in southwest
Minnesota, this appears to be the first record for Rock County.
