If I were bold, I would call this bird an immature Tropical Kingbird based off what looks to be a incomplete tail, short primary extension, and the bulky size of the beak. There was only a barely noticeable notch on the inner vane of the p10 primary, while the others appeared quite rounded to me. I'd be interested to hear if anyone disagrees with these observations after viewing the bird and all the photos that this weekend should produce.
Annabelle captured some photos this morning (at marker 36) highlighting these traits - https://flic.kr/p/uYN7q3 And there's a nice study of Western, Tropical, and Couch's here - http://www.birds.cornell.edu/crows/kingbirdsX.htm - Justin Watts Hennepin County ---- Join or Leave mou-net: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=mou-net Archives: http://lists.umn.edu/archives/mou-net.html
