My wife and I were bicycling along the bike trail out of Lake Louise State Park this morning. The sandpiper flushed from along the trail. Larger dark shorebird, stocky in flight, no leg extension (i.e. yellowlegs). Bird called repeatedly as it flew off. The call matched Sibleys recording of "flight (flush) call NE" of the upland sandpiper. I have the Sibley phone app, so was able to listen to call sound while there. Unfortunately it flew straight off to the west, not circling us. There was a small area of standing water in a field nearby, but the bird didn't appear to come from that area. I believe it was in the taller prairie grasses/forbs which form a narrow band along both sides of the bike trail at that point. -jerry pruett
