As I was going out to retrieve a dead Trumpeter Swan that had hit a power line in Maple Grove, Hennepin County, about an hour ago, I looked up to see about 45 Turkey Vultures migrating SE. The birds were very high up, probably riding thermals. Unfortunately the swan, this year's young, was lying on the roadway's center strip, directly below power lines. Power line collisions are a major source of mortality for swans.
