...new friend Sue Arnold visiting from Indianapolis and I came across this
bird in the Sax Zim Bog, foraging alongside the Admiral Road in the willow
barrens--if that would be a good description--south of the power line
corridor as we approached the Sax Road from the north. This is in St. Louis
County, west of Hwy. 7 between Cotton and Virginia, MN. We were hopeful of
more individuals but the road otherwise was hopping with palm and
yellow-rumped warblers, ground-feeding then flying into seedlings and
shrubs, juncos, robins.

In the yard not far south in Meadowlands Twp. I had Harris' sparrow, fox
sparrow, white-crowned sparrow and junco all foraging in dust and grass
alongside the parked car early this morning. At this time of the year the
ground seems to cook with ground-feeding southbound migrant birds.
