Hey birders,
The last two days we’ve had south winds and beautiful weather for November. In spite of that (and opposite our expectations), the Bethany Hawkwatch has counted quite a few raptors moving south through the Minnesota River Valley the last two days. Two-day totals appear below and all birds were observed at our second site (Land of Memories Park) not at Bethany Lutheran College—a south wind phenomenon: Bald Eagle—119 Northern Harrier—6 Sharp-shinned Hawk—6 Red-tailed Hawk—384 Rough-legged Hawk—3 Peregrine Falcon—1 The 2015 fall total is currently 8,458 raptors of 14 species (see hawkcount.org/bethany). Happy birding! *Chad Heins* Assistant Professor of Biology Bethany Lutheran College 700 Luther Drive Mankato, MN 56001 Office: 507.344.7327 | Toll Free: 800.944.3066 [email protected]| www.blc.edu ---- Join or Leave mou-net: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=mou-net Archives: http://lists.umn.edu/archives/mou-net.html
