Preliminary results from yesterday's Bloomington Christmas Bird Count were
not too exciting. Turkey numbers were up, but Cedar Waxwing and Goldfinch
numbers were definitely off. We did not find much open water and
waterfowl. Somebody reported a small number of Redpolls, which is a good
predictor for other counts seeing that they made this far south already.
Our team had a wonderful count finding a Red-shoulder, Sharp-shinned, and
Goshawk, as well as a Swamp Sparrow.
