A tentative total of 63 species was seen on the Duluth CBC on 
Saturday, December 19th. Some of the highlights included:

1 Greater Scaup at Canal Park
2 Hooded Mergansers in the Duluth Harbor
1 Pacific Loon near Leif Erikson Park (1st ever for the Duluth CBC 
and maybe the 1st for any MN CBC?)
1 Common Loon at Canal Park
1 Red-necked Grebe near Fitger's
2 migrating adult Golden Eagles
13 Thayer's Gulls at Canal Park (record high for Duluth CBC)
3 Great Black-backed Gulls at Canal Park
1 Snowy Owl in the Duluth Harbor
1 Long-eared Owl near the UMD campus (second record for Duluth CBC)
1 Brown Thrasher near Skyline Drive
45 Bohemian Waxwings along Riley Road
1 Golden-crowned Sparrow at 44th Ave E and Regent St. (4th time(!) 
for the Duluth CBC)
51 Evening Grosbeaks near the Zimmerman Road.


The Two Harbors CBC was held the following day on December 20, with 
40 species seen. Highlights included:

2 Long-tailed Ducks at Burlington Bay
2 Red-necked Grebes at Agate Bay
1 Northern Goshawk north of Knife River
1 Gray Jay on the Laine Road
1 Golden-crowned Kinglet near Stoney Point
1 Townsend's Solitaire at the northern end of the Ryan Road
15 Bohemian Waxwings at the northern end of the Ryan Road
1 Song Sparrow in downtown Two Harbors
1 Savannah Sparrow (1st for Two Harbors CBC)
1 Hoary Redpoll near Knife River
