Anyone have any idea what this bird might be: Today driving the back roads from Little Falls to Brainerd, central Minnesota, I saw a bird about the size of a crow but look a little more like a hawk. It was very dark, either black or very brown, when it flew there was a distinct band of white under the wings along the primaries, otherwise everything was dark.
Also at it flew it flew steady for awhile and then rocked a little like it wasn't quite sure of itself. It would perched in the top of the tree. Don't know if this is enough info, but any suggestions would be appreciated. Perhaps it is a dark morph of something?
