The relatively good birding from this last December continued into the new year. 2016 was my highest species January of any past year in Carver County with 44 beating out my previous high of 40 in January 2012. Almost all of my birding was done at Rapids Lake MVNWR with only a few common resident species(House Sparrow, starling, pigeon) added from elsewhere in the county casually. I am not as picky with my highlights in January, and they are below all from Rapids Lake.
