3/5/2016 Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge Bass Ponds 8:00 - 10:30 am Bird Walk There are more open areas on Long Meadow Lake, with Mallards spread out along the open water. A few Lesser Scaup were observed on the Hogback ridge pond as well a pair of Common Goldeneye's. At least 10 Bald Eagles of varying ages were observed, including a pair at both of the nests visible from the Bass Ponds trails. Here are a few of the species we observed on the walk: Trumpeter Swan Lesser Scaup Common Goldeneye Bald Eagle - With good looks at a pair on there nest.
