Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge
Bass Ponds
8:00 - 10:30 am
 
Bird Walk
 
There are more open areas on Long Meadow Lake, with Mallards spread out along 
the open water.  A few Lesser Scaup were observed on the Hogback ridge pond as 
well a pair of Common Goldeneye's.  At least 10 Bald Eagles of varying ages 
were observed, including a pair at both of the nests visible from the Bass 
Ponds trails. 
 
Here are a few of the species we observed on the walk:
Trumpeter Swan
Lesser Scaup
Common Goldeneye
Bald Eagle - With good looks at a pair on there nest.
Northern Harrier
Rough-legged Hawk
American Tree Sparrow

Here are the dates for some of the upcoming walks at the Refuge:
March 19 - Saturday - Rapids Lake Unit
March 28 - Monday - Bass Ponds 
April 2 - Saturday - Rapids Lake Unit
April 9 - Saturday - Bass Ponds
All these walks begin at 8:00 am.  There are no fee's charged for these walks 
and they are open to the public.
