A TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was found by Jan and Larry Kraemer on the 12th along the Western Waterfront Trail at Kingsbury Creek, and it was still present on the 14th. They also saw a very early GREAT CRESTED FLYCATCHER there on the 12th. David Brislance relocated the TOWNSENDÂ’S SOLITAIRE at Grand Marais on the 11th, near the East Bay Suites. Peder Svingen saw a RED-THROATED LOON on the 14th at the Park Point Recreation Area. Richard Hoeg reported several hundred BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS on the 14th at the entrance to the recreation area. Smaller flocks of migrating BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS have been seen during the past week at several locations between Duluth and Two Harbors. John Richardson saw 15 LONG-TAILED DUCKS on the 13th at Brighton Beach in Duluth. A flock of 23 LONG-TAILED DUCKS were still present on the 13th at Agate Bay in Two Harbors. Recent new arrivals in the area include NORTHERN FLICKER on the 10th, YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER on the 11th, RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET on the 12th, WILSON'S SNIPE on the 13th, and OSPREY and EASTERN PHOEBE on the 14th.
