The admin has graciously given me permission to post this notice... 6 kids from the Burroughs Birders youth birding club are offering 5 bird walks this spring/summer.
Location: Veteran’s park in Richfield 10 spots available each day. Sign up, see dates and details <https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12Z6XQtxBV80buXqID781VwVa2GDbYaWPDUmbtLQD2GI/edit#gid=0>. I will be along on every walk helping the kids in their roles as guides. And I’ll have plenty of binoculars available. Maybe you know a family with a kid who is interested in birding. Maybe you know a kid you want to get interested in birding. Or, maybe you just think it’s fun to bird with a kid. What’s the fundraiser for? These kids are on also on a Destination Imagination team at their school. This year this team of seven 5th graders… - Won 1st in their division at the regional tournament - Took home the Davici prize for creativity at regionals - Won 1st place at their state tournament - Earned the change to compete at the global tournament. -This is the first time an elementary team from Minneapolis has ever gone to globals. They wrote a skit that solved a mystery, did it all in black-and-white and in rhyme for a jazz-age concept, and built an electro-magnate. Plus they had to solve a instant challenge on the spot, working as a team. What is Destination Imagination (DI)? In DI, student teams solve team challenges with no adult input. This hands-on system of learning fosters students’ creativity, courage and curiosity through open-ended academic challenges in the fields of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), fine arts and service learning.
