Is this a wild bird? I observed the bird yesterday (6/6). While viewing it, it was flushed by another duck and flew about 100 feet away. So it can fly. I also observed that both back claws (dew claw?) were intact. This was a reason that the Smew in Rochester was judged to be an escape some years ago. I also observed that there were no rings (bands). So I have to assume its wild. I have pictures so perhaps someone can judge feather wear if this is important. Also the fact that 2 BBWD’s were seen just south east of Mcleod 2 weeks earlier makes it likely (?) that its one of those birds.
