Curt Rawn, Alyssa Murphy, and I birded the Hennepin County side of the Coon
Rapids Dam yesterday morning. We were able to relocate the pair of
PROTHONOTARY WARBLERS, not on the southern-most island, but across from it
on the main land. From the park entrance, follow the trail south along the
river, cross the creek, then continue walking alongside the river going
south. The birds moved around a bit, vocalizing with chip notes and the
male sang later on. Another highlight was hearing a DICKCISSEL fly over us,
from the sounds of it heading southwest. Lots of breeding activity as well.

Meanwhile in Golden Valley, my mother described to me what appears to be a
PINE SISKIN visiting our nyjer thistle feeder on June 7 and 8. I heard a
late ALDER FLYCATCHER singing a few times across the road from our house on
June 8. Given the small area I presume it's a migrant, although they do
nest in some areas in southern Minnesota (i.e. Dakota County).

Good birding!
