The loon appears to be gaining strength and I will continue to monitor him. He was still feeding at the shore and he wasn't diving much but when he did he appeared to stay under for a longer period of time--several seconds. This is a major change from yesterday when when he was inactive most of the time and seemed to expend a lot of energy to keep from being washed to the shore.
A group called *Wildlife Intensive & Critical Care* which is a permitted DNR wildlife rehabilitator came out today to check him out and offered to capture him if he needs help in the future. Check out their website--great people. I did leave messages with the Minneapolis DNR officer but I never heard from him. It was great to hear from all the people who wrote with their ideas for helping him.
