This morning while making breakfast at our lake place in Longville, MN, I heard
one call that sounded like a Carolina wren. It made me think, but then I
thought it might be a young warbler practicing and sounding like a wren. Then
when I was emptying the dishwasher I heard several calls from my sister's place
across the road and I knew it was a Carolina wren. I dropped everything and
raced out to their wood pile. Sure enough there was the wren. I ran back to the
house to get my camera and my phone with a recorder. I was able to get a few
confirming shots and was able to record the bird's alarm call on my phone. The
MOU web site says this could be a 3rd or 4th record for Cass County. (Not sure
what it means when it says 0 on the Pillager CBC.) My heart is still racing!
What a thrill. Deanne Endrizzi
