I've posted directions for my go-to viewing location at South Heron Lake in Jackson Co. a handful of times, yet there still seems to be some confusion as to where this location is and I've still received a handful of inquiries. Go to the intersection of 850th St. / 415th Ave. Continuing east past this intersection takes you into Sandy Point Park and you've gone too far. Instead, turn north at this intersection. There is a gate here, although it is open at this time and you'll see a single lane "farm road". A sign at the northeast corner of the intersection reads "Stern/Kalash Point". This is what you're looking for. I've created a map with some helpful markers around this immediate location. I've also included a couple other markers for points that birders may be familiar with. I hope those attempting to visit will find this as beneficial as the birds I've enjoyed here thus far!
