Ed & I were at the two Brownsville overlooks this past Saturday, November 12th.
There was a naturalist at the north overlook who had great swan info. She
estimated 1,000 tundra swans that day, with about 100 the previous weekend (she
said that they are late this year due to warm weather). There were lots and
lots of pelicans, too, and a terrific variety of ducks. The naturalist
predicted that a huge influx of swans would happen before this Friday's winter
storm, and that they are generally there until freeze-up. We went to
Brownsville last year the first week of December and saw thousands still. I
bet it would be worth the stop after Thanksgiving since they are just starting
to come in.
Happy Birding,

Katy, Minnetonka
