I was able to relocate the Bohemian Waxwing that Craig Mandel reported
yesterday in the crabapple trees at the north end of the old brick pottery
factory building in Red Wing this morning about 8:30am. There were about 200
Cedar Waxwings there that I had to look through as they moved around in the
trees. I was able to pick it out at least three times as it moved around in the
trees. As I was watching several small groups of waxwings would fly off to the
north. When the flock size had dropped down to about 50 I was not able to spot
the Bohemian. I drove around looking for more crabapple trees and found a few
but no waxwings until I went further north and found a group of about 75 at the
McDonalds - toward the back on the south side - but was not able to pick out
the Bohemian in that group.
