Yesterday, on our Bloomington CBC, we had the unexpected pleasure of a
Snowy...We've done the same area several years in a row, and it was a
first. We'd hiked into Camp Coldwater Springs, and had just turned off the
bike trail to go downhill into the off-leash dog park. It flew toward the
river, it's total white plumage catching our unbelieving eyes. As we
reached the dog park entrance, we noticed the open swath of power line
right-of-way. The Snowy re-crossed this area, heading toward the airport.
We then spotted our original "target" further uptrail, the Barred Owl.
Later, on Minnehaha Creek, crows showed us our 3rd owl, a Great-horned. The
creek also offered us a Belted Kingfisher, Bluebirds, and Brown Creepers to
go along with all the usual flocks of Robins, Cedar Waxwings, etc.

 Subject: [mou-net] Snowy Owl

Today at 2:30 pm my wife and I were riding the Blue Line commuter rail in
Minneapolis out to Mall of America and a Snowy Owl flew over the train. It
was flying east to west from the military cemetery toward the Humphrey
terminal. We had a very good look at the bird until it flew behind some
buildings.
