I understand the different viewpoints about such posts. Consider this: the ornithology of birding offers great appreciation of the natural value of diversity. It has no less potential value among us. This thread has taught me something about a bird species, but also offered information about various social resources. It also gives rise to some serious thought about our relationship of responsibility to birds in general. In that respect, such discussions are appropriate, though I agree some messages might better be sent with the individual reply, rather than "reply all". Linda Whyte
