Old Cedar Avenue Bridge Trailhead

8 - 11:30 am


It was fun to get a group back down to the Old Cedar Avenue Bridge.  There are 
still lots of Ducks on Long Meadow Lake and the Sandhill Cranes were also very 
cooperative today.  Our group observed 39 species of birds and here are a few 
of the highlights:


13 species of Waterfowl, including: Trumpeter Swan, Wood Duck, American Black 
Duck, Northern Shoveler Canvasback, Lesser Scaup and Bufflehead.

Great Blue Heron

Great Egret - Observed in flight

Northern Harrier

Bald Eagle - Including some on there nest

Sandhill Crane

Mourning Dove

Belted Kingfisher

Eastern Phoebe

American Tree Sparrow

Dark-eyed Junco

Common Grackle


Here are the dates of some upcoming MNWR bird walks.  The walks begin at 8:00 
am and there is no fee for the walk.

April 2 - Bass Ponds

April 3 - Old Cedar Avenue Bridge

April 10 - Old Cedar Avenue Bridge

April 11 - Rapids Lake Unit

April 15 - Old Cedar Avenue Bridge
