I just received a report of a Black Rail (No! not a baby Virginia) at
Sherburne Wildlife Refuge in Sherburne County. Richard Clearman at about
11:30 am found a Black Rail on the wildlife drive in the cattails on the
south side of the road just below the Charles Stickney Pool. A volunteer
ranger at the refuge had been seeing the rail for about three weeks, but
this is the first time that Richard found it. His report was of a small
black rail with a brown back and white spots on its flanks and possibly its
back.
