Spent an hour, or so, circumnavigating Pelican Lake in
Wright County to no avail. The DNR has drawn the lake
down, but none of the places where there is access on
either the east for west side produced the type of habitat
that shorebirds need. Too many cattails and water lilies.
Talked with a resident angler who sees shorebirds on mud
flats when he is out fishing, but no mudflats visible on
our auto-outing. It may get better later, but for now,
save yourself the trip, unless you have a boat.
NOTE: The "beltway" around Pelican Lake is clearly marked
that they do not want you to park on the road.

Tacoma wetland, 4 miles south of Mayer, had more water,
but very few shorebirds. Possible quick sighting of one
buff-breasted sandpiper... but not a positive ID.
