Several birds of note were seen between Duluth and Grand Marais today, and
here's a brief summary. Please note that these birds were seen by various
birders (not just me; about 40 of us in 2 main groups were involved):

- Red Phalarope at Black Beach in Lake Co; this location is well signed just NE
of Silver Bay on the road that runs behind the AmericInn.

- At least 3 Mountain Bluebirds at 2 places in Two Harbors: in the large open
area just W of the Castle Danger Brewery, and in the park along First St by the
apartment building.

- 2 Pacific Loons in Taconite Harbor, Cook Co.

- Townsend's Solitaire in Knife River, Lake Co., along the dead end road and RR
tracks E of Emily's.

- Other birds of note at various sites included: White-winged and Black
scoters, Long-tailed Duck, White-rumped Sandpiper, Golden Eagle, both
Long-eared and Short-eared owls, Black-backed Woodpecker, N Shrike, Bohemian
Waxwing, Pine Grosbeak, Com Redpoll, both crossbills, W Meadowlark, Nashville
Warbler, and others.
