Yesterday afternoon, Pat Thomas reported seeing a possible Carolina Wren in her back yard, at 6219 E Superior St, and its ID was confirmed at 8:00 this morning, 16 December, when five of us watched it come into one of her feeders. Pat then told me it was OK for birders to visit, with the following conditions:
- Do not call ahead (so no need to post her phone number here). - Walk up the driveway on the right side of her house, and watch for it at or near her feeders, but please do not go any farther than the corner of the house by the back door. (Pat saw it yesterday foraging on the ground next to the garage; it first appeared this morning in the cedars behind the feeders before landing on the left-hand feeder which appeared to be filled with peanuts.) - Pat also asks that conversation levels be as quiet as possible, since they have an indoors dog that is easily disturbed and barks at any sounds outside. Thanks to Pat for her willingness to share this rarity with others, and she thanks visitors in advance for following the few simple guidelines listed above. Other birds seen by others on today’s Duluth CBC included a Boreal Owl along the Lakewalk, and a N Mockingbird on the 1500 block of Jefferson St. Kim Eckert, Duluth ---- Join or Leave mou-net: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=mou-net Archives: http://lists.umn.edu/archives/mou-net.html
