There were many waterfowl, from buffleheads to swans, at the Carlos Avery South
Pool this morning. The pool is still mostly frozen, the birds are concentrated
in the open water above the dam.
Take Stacy Trail (Co Rd 19) east from Stacy about a mile and then take the
first sand road to the south (right).

The gates on the Anoka County side are still closed to motor vehicles, and
probably will be for at least another week. The roads are in poor condition for
vehicle travel. But it is a great time to walk or take to your fat bike to
experience the sights, sounds, and scents of spring.
