157 species were recorded with notable birds such as: American Three-toed
Woodpecker,
Black-backed Woodpecker, Boreal Chickadee, Great Gray Owl, Caspian Tern,
Red-headed
Woodpecker. Le Conte Sparrow, 20 warbler species, 17 shorebird (Ruddy
Turnstone, Black-
bellied Plover and Stilt the day before) and 5 vireos.

The Hosch Brothers, Becca Engdahl and Alex Burchard broke the Big Day record
with 149. Milt
Blomberg, Dan Orr and Frank Gosiak also broke the old record of 141 with 146
but when all
was tallied they had only a short lived moment on top. The event winners were
Herb
Dingman, Ron Erpelding and Al Meadows with 156 points (combined points fro
specie count,
photos, and sharing rare sightings). Al took some great pictures which put them
over the top
and they also had many points for sharing rare finds. It was a good day and we
had a lot of
fun meeting up with Jeanie Joppru's group and others who were involved. The
town of
Northome thanks all who came to their remote area and are excited to see other
birders.
