Since three Blue Grosbeaks have been reported in the state already, apparently it's not too early to be out looking for them even though I prefer late July. So today seems as good a day as any to share a cool resource from MNDOT that I discovered last winter. This website shows the locations of gravel pits, active or otherwise, for *every* Minnesota county. If you want to look for Blue Grosbeaks in a county that interests you, check this out so you have some ideas of where to begin looking.
https://www.dot.state.mn.us/materials/aggcopitmaps.html Just an FYI from the site: "These maps show the locations of gravel pits, rock quarries and commercial aggregate sources. They have not been updated, however, since 2003 and will no longer be updated."
