To whom it may concern: The Park Board Commission of the City of Minnetonka has released its mountain biking trail study and proposed plan which it has just recommended to be reviewed by City Council, which are in draft form. Here are links where you can view these two documents:

There is some concern, such as those stated by Conserve Lone Lake Park, over how these trails may impact the composition and abundance of bird species in the park. Specifically, there is research that shows MTB trails or any new trails which pass too close to nesting site may impede reproductive success and that certain species may leave the area entirely. I wanted to reach out to you to see if 1) you had any further available resources, and 2) if anyone there may be interested in helping to analyze what impacts the birds in the park may face if this plan is approved as is. It is a relatively small park with a plan to construct 4.7 miles of 1 to 2 foot wide trail with portions of trail as close as 25 feet together in some sections in a 1.46 acre park.
