While leading a trip for the Minnesota River Valley Audubon Chapter our group observed 3 Surf Scoters in Lyon County. Surf Scoter - 3 Surf Scoters were observed from the public boat access on the West side of Island Lake. The birds were observed at 6:40 pm on the South side of the lake. Sparrow migration was strong in the county, but no Nelson's or Le Conte's Sparrows were located.
