Ornithophiles of MN Bob Montgomerie writes for the American Ornithological Socy on history subjects in ornithology. This one link contains 10 different articles from the founding of the Nuttall Ornithology Club in 1883 and The Auk; to Sacred Ibis (in Egypt & now Australia); prehistoric cave bird art; early ornithology texts, ornithologists, and artists (Gould, Streseman); and a comparison of number of bird publications to other fields of science. Montgomerie is amazingly prolific. Altho heavily-researched, I think this is only a small portion of his work. It looks like one can sign up for new material as it is available. https://amornithhistory.org/author/rmont/
