Greetings Birders!

John Hockema and Kimberly Emerson are hosting a very special field trip in
Rock County the weekend of April 12-14 to honor and HELP the legendary Bob
Janssen achieve a major birding milestone. Bob Janssen has seen at least
225 bird species in every Minnesota county except one--Rock County. This
is an invitation to join an effort to help Bob achieve yet another amazing
milestone during his lifetime of county listing. This trip offers the
opportunity to celebrate the life and contributions of one of the state's
finest ambassadors to birds by exploring the back roads of Rock County. It
will be together that we get to say 'thanks' to Bob for sharing his
lifelong dedication to birds with all of us.

Some of the target species include Tundra Swan, Cackling Goose, Wild
Turkey, Willet, Osprey, Pileated Woodpecker, and Smith’s Longspur. Bob
only needs 3 species to reach his goal.

Many hands make light work, so all are welcome. Those attending are asked
to RSVP to [email protected] by April 1st so John and Kim have an idea
of how many people will be attending and so they can assign search areas
and target species accordingly. The search will begin Friday, April 12th and
run through Sunday the 14th. Join the fun for one day or all!
