The 2019 Annual Midwest Crane Count is this Saturday, April 13th, weather permitting. If you have other events that day, remember the count is early, from dawn to 7:30am.
This year turkey hunting starts on 4/24, so while you may run into some hunters scouting, you will not stumble upon any blinds with shooters. If you do run into hunters, ask them what they have seen. I always am open to using second hand reports. Surveyor information is available at: http://www.savingcranes.org/counter-information/ and should include data tally sheets, survey instructions, crane calls, and data reporting instructions. Please, if you can report your data online. An alternative is to report the data to me. I am coordinating Dakota County and neighboring areas to the south and east.
