Saw the following of note (to me) at Afton State Park, Afton, MN on Saturday
Ruby-crowned Kinglet Yellow Bellied Sapsucker I also hiked/birded the School Forest In Linwood, Anoka County on Sunday. In both instances, I was really surprised about the quiet and inactivity of the birds given the time of year. Did the cold and low pressure preceding the rain contribute to that? I would have expected the woods to be alive with the "peeps" of Yellow-rumped Warblers but I only heard a few (i think) at Afton and the same at the School Forest where at least I saw one juvenile. Other than that I heard a few Red-Bellied Woodpeckers and maybe a Song Sparrow and heard and saw some Robins at Afton and heard and saw some Robins at the Linwood School Forest besides hearing a few Yellow rumped Warblers and seeing the one. Was it the weather? Or was it still a little early for the Yellow-rumpeds?
