(Posted by Douglas P. Johnson <[email protected]> via moumn.org) This is a quite belated report but there was a Western Tanager in Beltrami County at Larry Ketelsen's feeder off Trillium Court NE Bemidji whose backyard borders Lake Bemidji State Park back on May 8, 2019. I saw Larry's video of the adult male Western Tanager with red head and yellow body and black wings with prominent white wingbars that he took but unfortunately the bird did not stick around except for that one day. This is the third yearly spring record for Beltrami County in a row for this species which is apparently becoming much more regular here and around the state.
Also at the state park bird feeders by the contact station there was an adult male No. Cardinal on May 17th which represents a new park record and thus two new birds can be added to Bob Janssen's state park checklist for Lake Bemidji State Park. ---- Join or Leave mou-net: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=mou-net Archives: http://lists.umn.edu/archives/mou-net.html
