I have a surprise open 3-day stretch starting now through Saturday. I've been bereft of birding adventures this summer and am eager to get out. I'm in northern Washington County. Don't want to drive more than an hour or so. I've been watching eBird; am not familiar with places that are run of the mill for some of y'all, particularly Tamarack and Oakdale Nature Preserves and Grey Cloud Dunes. Are grasshopper sparrows still to be found? I've heard them but never seen them. Is the Neotropic cormorant still in Richfield?
Or I could just go to the State Fair... If you had a free day at the end of this week, and lived in the north/east metro, what would be your choice?
