My friend saw a Great Horned Owl near her yard at dusk last night, and thought it would be interesting to put out their owl decoy on her deck to see what would happen. This morning she found the deck strewn with a bunch of animal guts--the pictures are pretty gross...nonetheless, I've never heard of owls doing anything like this.
Did this owl think this decoy was a real owl? And if so, was it "gifting" it food? Any experience witnessing something similar? My friend, and I for that matter, are interested in knowing if this is typical. Thanks!
