About noon today, I found an adult Neotropic Cormorant at Richfield Lake, Richfield, Hennepin Co. This is presumably the same bird that was at this location for over three weeks last summer, although the prominent white facial filoplumes of last summer's adult were lacking or obscure. It was perched on a log next to several Double-crested Cormorants, and easily distinguished from them (with scope) by its smaller body size, proportionally longer tail, smaller and thinner bill, brownish (not orange) V-shaped gular patch bordered with white. Easiest access is from the west side of the lake, Emerson Ave. Walk a short distance north on the path; a scope will be helpful.
