My wife and I were in west central Wisconsin over the weekend and observed hundreds of Tundra Swans and Canada Geese feeding in fields , in the lakes, and flying overhead. We've never seen so many swans in the area.

We also had fewer bees and other pollinators. Along with the drought our crab apples just did not produce. There were fewer chokecherries but the high bush cranberry did produce. Not sure why, if they flowered at a different time? Anyway, yesterday I had about 16 Cedar Waxwings hawking insects near sunset. We would normally see larger flocks of waxwings up to 250 at a time. We would also normally have flocks of assorted geese flying over and Tundra Swans. Have not seen or heard them yet. Wondering if they are migrating a different route East or West this year.
