Richfield Lake, Richfield, Hennepin Co. Presumed returning adult from
previous year(s). Perched high in dead tree on colony island. Smaller and
more slender than DCCO, with longer tail; gray-brown rather than orange
gular pouch, V-shaped, bordered with narrow line of white feathers
extending below throat; lores dark; a few wispy white filoplumes on head;
bill more slender. Perched alone to west of DCCO colony, which has 9 active
nests. Likely a very recent arrival; I have checked this lake about every
other day on average since early April.
