I don't think ospreys have been impacted much by bird flu since they don’t tend to eat birds and ducks. Some osprey nests were destroyed due to wind. Glad to hear that the falcons are doing well. I was seeing a pair in another location earlier in the season that I'm no longer seeing, but they may have just moved on and nested elsewhere.
One day a month or so back I saw an osprey perched near one of the Lilydale eagle nests (not the power line nest, which I think started out as an osprey nest). I think that osprey was just passing through. That's sad to hear some of the Lilydale Eagles may have succumbed to Avian Bird Flu, I have not been down there to look for birds since ~March. I just wanted to interject, I have seen Osprey on a couple occasions at the river near the Ford Dam over the last month or so. Both in flight here several times, and also perched on one of the trees on the small island downstream of the dam.. The Falcons at the Ford Dam seem to be doing well last I've visited. They have 3 fledged young ones, two females and a male as I understand.
