Bald Eagle Lake, 2 miles north of downtown White Bear Lake has a large roost of
Purple Martins arriving each evening. Take hwy 61 to 120th St (Cty Rd J).
Turn west then a quick left following signs to Bald Eagle Park. Park in the
parking lot and walk south to the floating dock. There is an island of
cattails about a 1/2 mile out.
Swallows can be seen arriving after 7:15 pm with the Martins streaming in from
the east around 7:45 pm. By 8:15 the island & lake is covered with a swirling
mass of birds.
